  We explicitly recommend letting BMW Group Service carry out any changes to a wheel bolt lock.

  Safety measures in the case of a breakdown: Position the vehicle as far away as possible from the flow of traffic, switch on your hazard lights, lock the steering wheel lock so that the wheels are in the straight-ahead position, engage the handbrake and first or reverse gear or move the selector lever to the P position.

  Have all the passengers get out of the car, and move them out of the danger zone, e.g. behind the crash barriers.

  If necessary, position a hazard warning triangle or flashing hazard light at an appropriate distance.

  If changing a wheel, please refer to your owner's handbook for the vehicle under the heading "Mobility" or "Minor repairs" for more information.

  Preparations for fitting the wheel studs: Ensure that the vehicle cannot roll away.

  Lock the steering wheel lock so that the wheels are in the straight-ahead position, engage the handbrake and first or reverse gear or move the selector lever to the P position.

  If you are on an upward slope, place a wedge beneath the front wheel.

  If you are on a downward slope, place it in front of the wheel.

  In the case of vehicles with run-flat tires (run-flat properties), there are no tools in the vehicle. You can obtain these as accessories from BMW Group Service.

  Removing the original wheel studs: Only remove one original wheel stud from each wheel of your vehicle.

  Fitting the wheel bolt lock: Before installing the wheel bolt locks, please check that the thread and stem/total length of the original bolts and those of the wheel bolt lock are the same.

  Do not oil or grease the wheel bolt lock!

  Firstly, turn the adapter slightly to plug the adapter on the wheel bolt lock until it engages fully in the coding groove (1). With the adapter connected, turn on the wheel bolt lock by hand (2).

  In order to prevent damage to the adapter or to the head of the wheel bolt, do not use an impact wrench when fitting!
